About Jamie

Jamie in Holyrood

Jamie Stone is the Lib Dem MSP for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross. Following 13 years of service in local government - Ross & Cromarty District Council followed by the Highlands Council - in 1999 Jamie was elected to represent the Northernmost Scottish mainland seat in the Scottish Parliament.

Prior to his involvement in politics, Jamie pursued a varied and sometimes colourful career - including working in a fish factory - before settling down in the oil sector working with oil fabrication and drilling companies, this sector, and its importance to the Highlands, remains an abiding interest.

In 2003 Jamie was returned for a second time to represent the seat, that also happens to be his childhood home, and where he and his family live now. With personal experience of the ups and downs of different forms of working life - and the individual needs of people and their communities in the North - Jamie regards it as a particular privilege to serve this very special constituency.

Jamie is Shadow Public health and Housing Spokesman for the Scottish Liberal Democrats
