Jamie Stone, Liberal Democrat MSP for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross announced today that he will be standing down at the next election. Jamie was elected to the Scottish Parliament on its opening in 1999 and served as a local Councillor for 13 years before that.

In the small hours of this morning Liberal Democrat Business Spokesman John Thurso was re-elected as MP for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross. With a 61% turnout in the North John received 41% of the vote with the Labour Party coming a distant second.
